PipeVine, Inc.
In July 2003 the San Francisco County Superior Court appointed a Receiver to prepare an accounting of the amount of funds that should have been forwarded by PipeVine to specific charitable organizations that were either diverted to other purposes or otherwise not received. In addition, the Receiver has focused on the following three major objectives: I. Determination of the amount of the losses. II. Determination of the causes of the losses. III. Identification and pursuit of sources of recovery. The Receiver’s dominant objective is to maximize recovery. The Receiver has reported that he has “extracted the data from each corporate campaign for the individual charities that did not receive the funds designated for them” and that thousands of charities are involved. Once payments are made, the employers will receive confirmation of payments made on behalf of their employees. Employers will be encouraged to share this information with their employees. Through a large-scale review of disbursements by PipeVine, the Receiver has found no evidence of embezzlement or improper personal enrichment by any individuals. Orange County's United Way had no direct agreement or contract with PipeVine, Inc. to process and distribute employee pledges. However, several of the larger companies that run an Orange County United Way campaign contracted directly with PipeVine, Inc. to process their employee pledges. All payments due to Orange County United Way from PipeVine, Inc. have been received. Orange County’s United Way holds the trust and confidence in our operations by our donors at the highest level.
